Perform inflow testing, negative testing, and displacement in a single trip.
Innovative test tool enables dual high-pressure tests in single run, saving 40 hours of rig time
Using the Well Commissioner™ liner-top test tools with the holdup variant enabled the execution of two back-to-back inflow tests while avoiding excessive weight downforce due to the nature of the high-pressure tests conducted.
A major operator planned to conduct dual inflow testing and displacement of an offshore well using a single BHA assembly to reduce the number of runs and optimize the well performance curve. However, a single BHA containing two weight-activated tools requires thorough preplanning, including torque and drag analysis, to validate the appropriate shearing levels of all tools given the precise operational requirements. To address this challenge, SLB engineered a solution using the Well Commisioner holdup tool. This tool features an integral slip system and is rated to 9,000 psi for challenging HPHT wells, significantly reducing any weight transfer of the tool during such a negative test.
Using the Well Commissioner holdup tool allowed the execution of the two back-to-back inflow tests while avoiding excessive weight downforce due to the nature of the high-pressure tests conducted. The complex series of testing and displacement performed provided the client with a single BHA, resulting in savings of more than 40 hours of rig time, recovering 22 kg of solids laden in the wellbore while the BHA was in hole. The results impressed another operator, who also recognized the value the tool could deliver and subsequently contracted SLB to perform their 9,000 psi test.
