When my son was not yet a year old, life threw us an incredible opportunity: relocating from France to the U.S. for a compelling role with SLB.

It sounded thrilling—but it also meant upending everything about our family balance. My husband made the bold decision to leave his job in France to support our international adventure. Today, he takes on most childcare duties, and I feel incredibly lucky to have such a supportive partner.

Our experience abroad reinforced something I deeply believe: success in the workplace often starts with balance at home. For women to thrive professionally, we need to normalize male spouses stepping up—whether that means being at home or sharing childcare and household responsibilities equally. It’s not just about personal choices, but about breaking stereotypes that hold women back.

From my husband’s perspective, this journey hasn’t always been easy. Being the only male at SLB’s Spouse Association breakfast events or facing stereotypes as a “supporting spouse” can feel isolating. His experience highlights how deeply ingrained gender norms still are and how far we have yet to go as a society.

Equality isn’t just about women leaning in; it’s about men being empowered to lean into family life without judgment, as well. Our journey shows that it’s possible to create a life that is fulfilling for our entire family, and I’m grateful to my colleagues for enabling that to happen.

Now, as a leader in human resources, it’s my mission to make female voices heard and ensure women can participate in the workplace on equal footing with men. I’ve seen firsthand how policies and cultural shifts can empower women, but also how much work there is to do.

SLB is celebrating 100 years this year—100 years of innovation and progress that led to equality being more than a corporate slogan. It’s a lived reality that we create together, every day.

We know that progress happens when we challenge norms, both in boardrooms and living rooms. And I’m proud to play a role in driving that change.
