Celebrating 40 years of Olga and Pipesim

The Olga and Pipesim story so far

Celebrating 40 years of Olga and Pipesim
40 years of olga and pipesim

For 40 years the Olga™ dynamic multiphase flow simulator and Pipesim™ steady-state multiphase flow simulator have been continuously improved, driving innovation and setting the industry standard in flow assurance. They have delivered decades of optimization and efficiency improvements, and as we celebrate their journey so far, we also look to the future of flow assurance, in oil and gas and beyond.

Olga milestones

A brief history of the Olga simulator

Two researchers developed a computer application to simulate 2-phase effects of cooling water for the nuclear reactor. They modified the code and presented the idea of a new transient multiphase flow simulator, and named it OLGA, from the Norwegian words for oil and gas (OLje and GAss), the first iteration of the Olga™ dynamic multiphase flow simulator we have today.

Four decades of leading innovation

A brief history of Pipesim

The Pipesim™ steady-state multiphase flow simulator, initially developed by Baker Jardine traces its roots back to the visionary mind of Alan Baker. Baker Jardine was acquired by SLB in April 2001 with Pipesim emerging as the engine of choice powering various well modeling applications.
