How it improves performance

Recognized for their exceptional reliability and track record, Electris™ high-flow-rate (HFR) interval control valves (ICVs) provide the most precise control of reservoir production and injection across an unprecedented number of zones and compartments per well, maximizing recovery efficiency. Deliver more from every well.

These valves expand options for reservoir, completion, production, and process engineers. They empower reservoir and completion engineers with greater flexibility for well construction and completion architecture compared with hydraulically controlled downhole valves featuring discrete or direct-position chokes. Production engineers acquire rapid, high-precision zonal or compartmental reservoir control to maximize recovery efficiency. And process engineers use Electris HFR ICVs to extend facility process control into the reservoir, rapidly resolving facility process constraints by suppressing unwanted water and gas production.

Assemble and test the valves simultaneously with other completion tools in the workshop or at the wellsite off the critical path—reducing rig flat time.

Infinite flow control options with absolute position sensing
The Electris HFR ICV features a continuous-displacement choke that can be adjusted to any position within its range instead of fixed, discrete settings. An absolute position sensor embedded in the valve provides real-time feedback about the choke’s position. Operators can observe zonal fluctuations as they occur and immediately adapt flow rates. Precise control of fluid flow enables fine-tuning production rates and optimizing reservoir management in real time. Unlike traditional chokes with preset positions, continuous-displacement chokes enable infinitely variable micrometric adjustments, providing greater flexibility and accuracy in managing well performance and enhancing overall efficiency.

Data and power transmission across multiple junctions
A single electric control line connects each valve to the next and the entire system to the surface, minimizing connection points and splices, simplifying installation, and increasing reliability. Intellitite™ downhole dual-seal dry-mate connectors eliminate potential leak paths, a common issue with monitoring systems. Power and data are transmitted wirelessly across junctions via Electris downhole contactless wet-mate connectors (WMCs), which enable simultaneous monitoring and control of multiple zones across junctions.

Independent installation of completion stages
The contactless WMC provides an electrical connection between the lower (or segments of the lower) and upper completions. Eliminating the control line across the junction enables running in the lower completion on drillpipe. The pipe can be pushed, pulled, and rotated to overcome friction and reach target depth in extended-reach wells without fear of damaging control lines, removing any restrictions on the length of the wellbore.

Connected deployment service that reduces risks during installation
This HFR ICV is compatible with our Electris wireless running tool (WRT), which enables our connected deployment services. The WRT is designed for multitrip completions where downhole tools are deployed “blind” on drillpipe with no electric lines to surface. It enables wireless monitoring and control of lower and intermediate completion equipment at all stages of deployment for faster and better decision making and optimized operations. Assuring confidence in the integrity of electric equipment as well as electric and chemical injection lines is critical to the long-term reliability of installed completions.

Simplified upper completion workovers
Using the Electris downhole contactless WMC, you can confidently disconnect and reconnect completion stages multiple times. The debris-tolerant stab-in mechanism facilitates upper completion tubing changeout, subsurface safety valve (SSV) replacement, and other remedial operations, with no need to remove the lower completion or compromise its integrity.
