In 2008, EnQuest recommenced production from the North Sea Don oilfield, which the previous owners had planned to decommission. To minimize cost, redevelopment was from a relatively low-spec semi-submersible built in 1982. An integrated project team, including Schlumberger and M-I SWACO, provided extended reach directional drilling services using PowerDrive Xceed, advanced LWD, and high-speed telemetry. In one well, a North Sea record of 11,650 ft (3,812m) was achieved before pulling out to change the bit.
