Presence of water can often be a source of numerous problems, such as mineral scale deposition on well tubing, casing and perforation tunnels.

Abu Attifel, an onshore Libyan oilfield producing since 1972, is a multi-level sandstone reservoir where anhydrite and barite depositions have been affecting production for the past 25 years.

All the wells are cased (5" liner) hole and most of them are completed in more than one layer in commingle (in few wells all the 13 different identified layers are commingled to production).
