LineSlot high-flow-rate direct-wire-wrapped screen

Pushing the boundaries of erosion resistance for metal filters

Applications

  • Oil and gas wells with high production rates that would erode standard sand control screens
  • Stand-alone screen, gravel-packed, and frac-packed completions
  • Filtration media for Electris™ high-flow-rate interval control valve (ICV) integrated screens

Benefits

  • Reduces the screen approach velocity of well fluids to acceptable limits, decreasing erosion risk
  • Provides some inflow control, limiting the heel-toe effect and annular flow without impacting production

Features

  • Direct-wire-wrapped construction for enhanced mechanical strength and durability
  • Double the erosion resistance of standard direct-wire-wrapped screens
  • Tension, compression, and torque ratings that match those of the basepipe

How it improves performance

LineSlot™ high-flow-rate (HFR) direct-wire-wrapped screens can withstand higher production rates without compromising their structural integrity. They provide a mild ICD effect, improving inflow performance.

Minimizing sand production reduces the need for interventions and maintenance, lowering operating costs. Effective sand control extends the productive life of the well; the result is stable and efficient production over a longer period.

How it works

The unique rib-wire configuration and specific basepipe perforation size and pattern reduce both the heel-toe effect and annular flow, thus decreasing the approach velocity of produced fluids.

Additional information

The benefits of LineSlot HFR screens have been validated through extensive computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations as well as erosion tests in laboratory conditions. For further details, refer to industry publications, including SPE 151817 and OTC-31872-MS.
