How they improve performance
Introduced into the reservoir through an injector well, Resman™ reservoir tracers travel with the fluid and are later detected at production wells. Their arrival confirms connected pathways, reservoir sweep, and residual oil saturation—enabling evidence-based reservoir modeling.
Use these tracers for
- assessing injector-to-producer connectivity
- evaluating enhanced oil recovery (EOR) efficiency and sweep
- calibrating reservoir simulation models and history matching.
How they work
Tracer signals are plotted against time, a dissimilar tracer, or both, for advanced analysis. Appearance of the tracer in a different place from where it was introduced provides proof of mass transport.
The value comes from interpreting its journey, a task that we have simplified with advanced digital workflows that use the direct measurements as input.
Injection performance monitoring
The water or gas tracer is pumped into the injector flow stream, either directly or through an injection port. It is carried passively through the reservoir and retrieved at the production wellhead where the log of its journey is downloaded, providing information on the reservoir structure and injection efficiency. Results are subsequently presented via our Tracer Track™ visualization solution, where applicable.
Interwell EOR service
This service is similar to interwell monitoring and is used to enhance EOR treatment efficiency through determination of residual oil saturation before and after treatment. Two separate water tracers—with a known difference in affinity to oil—are injected. Proprietary analysis of the results enables improving your recovery factor.
Single-well EOR service
This service is similar to the interwell EOR service, but it is performed on a producer for near-well interrogation. A specific Resman reservoir tracer type is bullheaded into the producer, and during a shut-in period, it splits into two separate tracers with a known difference in affinity to oil. When the well is flowed back, we can perform the same analysis as with the interwell EOR service.
