POROSEAL

POROSEAL™ copolymeric filtration-control sealing additive provides permeability plugging to effectively seal shales and filtercakes, improving the performance of highly inhibitive water-based drilling fluids. It is effective for low- and high-temperature applications.

POROSEAL additive should be added at 2%–5% by volume in the initial formulation or as a treatment to an active system. Pilot testing prior to use is recommended to determine any effects on the system properties.

The performance of POROSEAL additive improves with salinity and can be used to improve both the wellbore stability and fluid-loss performance of highly inhibitive water-based fluids.

POROSEAL additive is compatible with conventional WBM as well as high-performance fluids, including

• ULTRADRIL™ water-based drilling fluid system
• HydraGlyde™ water-based drilling fluid system
• GLYDRIL™ advanced polyglycol system.

• Permeability plugging to aid in sealing shales and low-permeability sand formations
• Additional fluid loss control at temperatures in excess of 400 degF [204 degC]
• Biocide agent not required

• Highly effective shale stabilizer
• Effective at all pH levels
• Environmentally acceptable
• Stable at temperatures in excess of 204 deg C [400 deg F]
• Unaffected by contaminants such as hard water, cement, or C0₂

Packaging and storage

POROSEAL additive is available in 55-galUS [208-L] drums. Store in a dry, well-ventilated area. Store at temperatures between 40 and 110 degF [4.4 and 43.3 degC]. Bacterial growth may occur with long-term storage. Keep container closed. Keep away from heat, sparks, and flames. Store away from incompatibles. Follow safe warehousing practices regarding palletizing, banding, shrink-wrapping, and stacking.
