Optimize remote cementing operations with minimal human intervention and real-time data access.
Cementing equipment has advanced over the years, transitioning from physical buttons and throttles on local consoles to clickable icons on human machine interfaces (HMIs). Despite these technological improvements, the cementing process remains complex and largely manual, increasing the risk of human error that could lead to safety, quality, and environmental incidents. With the goal of reducing the risks associated with manual control and human error, SLB proposed its remote and automated cementing service.
By implementing its remote and automated cementing service, SLB successfully executed its first-ever fully automated cementing job on a well in the Norwegian Continental Shelf, managed from the onshore Performance Live center in Norway. This achievement marks a significant milestone in SLB history, showcasing the potential for reducing the carbon footprint by minimizing the travel of offshore personnel while maintaining high standards of performance and safety. Automated workflows digitized the entire cementing job workflow, reducing traditional cementing operations. Additionally, this technology offers access to expert support for any level of job complexity, improving service quality, performance, and execution of cement jobs.
