The process mill is the heart of the TCC HAMMERMILL system. Recovered base oil is transported back to the liquid mud plant for reuse in the formulation of new and reconditioned OBM. The treated solids have an average TPH of 0.2%. To date, the system has treated more than 200,000 t of OBM cuttings and recovered more than 150,000 bbl of base oil for reuse.

Background

Operators in Kazakhstan wanted a safe and reliable cuttings treatment solution for oil-based mud (OBM) drill cuttings so that the residual solids contained less than 1% total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH). This would enable environmental compliance for disposal in a local landfill. Additionally, recovered base oil from the OBM drill cuttings could be recycled and reused, reducing the amount of new base oil to be delivered to the remote location.
