SLB’s Flagship Digital Platform To Be Available on New Mistral Compute AI Infrastructure

Published: 06/11/2025

At SLB, we’re committed to leveraging best-in-class AI technologies to support our customers’ needs across a wide range of environments. Recently, our longstanding partner, Mistral AI, announced that it is introducing its integrated AI compute offering, Mistral Compute, that will provide an integrated AI environment for European enterprises and governments.

Why it matters

SLB will deploy its AI platform, optimized for the energy sector, as part of this vertically integrated AI ecosystem. This will be hosted entirely within European borders, ensuring data residency and security, while delivering the computational power needed for the next generation of AI models.

SLB’s collaboration with Mistral AI, which began in early 2024, established Mistral AI’s large language models (LLM) as the primary generative AI models for the Lumi™ data and AI platform. The choice was driven by Mistral AI’s powerful, efficient and open models, which can be deployed across various cloud and on-premises environments.

“Our collaboration with Mistral AI is rooted in a shared platform-agnostic philosophy,” said Rakesh Jaggi, president, Digital and Integration, SLB. “This ensures our customers can access cutting-edge AI capabilities wherever their data resides — be it on-premises or on the cloud, through global or sovereign cloud providers. We are excited to continue pioneering powerful AI solutions that directly translate into faster, more accurate insights from their data, significantly enhancing decision-making and operational performance in the energy industry.”

Accelerating insights from complex energy data

The new Mistral Compute comprehensive AI training suite will unlock unprecedented potential for SLB’s proprietary domain foundation models, which are specifically trained to interpret complex geological data.

For example, SLB’s seismic foundation models analyze petabytes of seismic data to map subsurface structures — one of the most computationally intensive tasks in the industry. The processing power of Mistral Compute will make it possible to train these models faster and with greater accuracy, reducing exploration uncertainty and cycle times.

By deploying SLB’s well log foundation models on this optimized stack, customers will be able to achieve near-real-time interpretation of well log data. This enables rapid identification of reservoir properties and hydrocarbon pay zones, enabling optimal drilling and completion strategies.

Overall, this will expand access to SLB’s market leading generative AI models in Europe, enabling our customers to unleash the full power of AI for performance and efficiency.
