1946 With the discovery of oil there, Al Ahmadi is founded, a city in the eponymous region in the south of the country; the city and region are named after Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the late Amir of Kuwait, inaugurates the export of Kuwait’s first crude oil shipment; the tanker British Fusilier transports the oil.
