Pipesim steady-state multiphase flow simulator
Production optimization over the complete lifecycle
The new generation in multiphase flow simulation to overcome fluid flow challenges and optimize production.
The Olga™ slug tracking module has the unique capability to track each individual slug from formation to either exit from the pipeline or extinction. The model considers the mechanisms of slug formation, merging of slugs, growth, and decay of slugs.
In Olga 2025.1 release, within the slug tracking module, we introduced a new way of studying slug flow called the MEAN tracking option. This novel 1D model enables users to dynamically simulate developing hydrodynamic slug flow in pipes, by applying a statistical ensemble average concept. Based on extensive benchmarking using more than 300 test cases, the MEAN tracking model is demonstrably faster than the classical slug tracking model (both on a total simulation time or a per-time-step basis), while delivering similar level of prediction accuracy for mean slug length and frequency.
The Olga slug tracking module is especially useful in production facilities design, enabling engineers to determine whether downstream equipment (such as separators and compressors) will be capable of properly processing anticipated slugs.
