How it improves performance
The MicroScope HD™ resistivity- and high-definition imaging-while-drilling service delivers unmatched LWD imaging for reservoir characterization—from structural modeling to sedimentology analysis—enabling detailed fracture characterization and optimized completions in conductive drilling fluids. The MicroScope HD 675 service extends the capability of high-resolution resistivity and imaging gained with the industry-leading MicroScope HD 475 service to the 8.5-in hole size.
How it works
With a pixel resolution of 0.2 in × 0.125 in, the MicroScope HD service enables operators to resolve fine-scale formation features in the downhole environment. The high-definition resistivity images are available in both real-time and recorded modes. Image interpretation is supported by a broad suite of analysis products in the Techlog™ wellbore software platform, including the Techlog Wellbore Imaging module and the Advanced Borehole Geology Suite plug-ins.
The MicroScope HD service also provides a high-resolution array of laterolog resistivity measurements. These cylindrically focused measurements are acquired with a two-button design that enables full borehole coverage across a wide range of ROP and rotation-per-minute variations. Quantitative resistivities are available as around-hole averages, oriented quadrants, and sector images with subinch-scale resolution, depending on operational conditions.
What it replaces
The MicroScope HD service operates in formations with resistivity up to 10,000 ohm·m, extending high-resistivity imaging beyond standard LWD tools. Its enhanced collar design minimizes stick-slip-related data errors, delivering lower noise and more reliable, high-quality data across challenging drilling conditions.
