How it improves performance

MicroScope Ultra™ intelligent imaging-while-drilling service is a major leap forward in borehole imaging. It delivers higher-resolution real-time imaging, earlier and more reliable detection of fractures and key geological features, improved robustness for harsher wells, expanded measurement capabilities, and tighter integration with broader subsurface data workflows. The MicroScope Ultra service introduces a high-frequency laterolog resistivity measurement that unlocks a step change in shallow resistivity accuracy, allowing for optimized Rxo determination for water saturation workflows. These improvements enable more informed completions planning, optimized drilling parameters, and data-driven reservoir evaluation.

How it works

The MicroScope Ultra service combines high-resolution, real-time borehole imaging with resistivity measurements, enabled by proprietary feature-based compressed image (FCBI) data and real-time feature recognition. Seamless integration with the SLB Subsurface Advisor ecosystem provides real-time autodip picking and multiphysics data workflows, connecting images with petrophysical and geological context. Together, these features deliver faster, more accurate geological interpretations during drilling, improving completions planning and reservoir evaluation.

Next-generation borehole imaging LWD technology

The MicroScope Ultra service represents an improvement in real-time resistivity image resolution versus existing solutions. With 5 out of 11 internal boards upgraded and downhole temperature and pressure ratings increased to 329 degF [165 degC] and 30,000 psi, the service enables safer operation in more challenging wells. The Rxo from the MicroScope Ultra service laterolog shallow resistivity measurements fit into any ELAN model for advanced water saturation workflows.
