Challenge: Obtain clear, high-definition
images to assess the reservoir potential of carbonate formations in a well
drilled with oil-base mud (OBM).
Solution: Deploy the FMI-HD high-definition
microimager to acquire high-quality images that are comparable to those
obtained by imaging in water-base mud (WBM) for the direct visual
quantification of fracture orientation and density and porosity evaluation.
Results: Successfully completed an interval
subsequently drilled and also imaged with the FMI-HD microimager after
determining that the fracture density was too low in the initially imaged
interval.
