Elastic anisotropy relates to the different velocities of rocks depending on the direction in which those velocities are measured. IT is relevant to wellbore stability analyses, seismic migration, and many other applications. Schlumberger uses assumption parameters in a workflow specifically designed to focus on anisotropy. This workflow has proven successful in the field and has helped improve the production of accurate seismic velocity models for seismic migration.
