Well instability in the Caspian Sea presents a challenge in high-angle wells, particularly in shale environments. The wells are typically extended-reach wells, which results in an open wellbore for a longer period of time. Geomechanics analysis enables drilling teams to make better decisions regarding mud weight to improve wellbore stability and influences critical decisions to update the well design for better results.
