Striking a new energy balance

The way we produce and consume energy must change. The sources of it and who has access to it need to expand—and as quickly as possible. This means decarbonizing industry and innovating in oil and gas while ramping up new energy sources. And delivering on the value of digital. All on a global scale.

Who we are
Focus

Applying decades of innovation in science and engineering to accelerate decarbonization and the global transition to low-carbon energy systems

With our technology innovation we are revolutionizing the energy industry. Science is our foundation. It fuels our understanding of what works, what will scale, what must evolve and why. We bring rigor, expertise and integrity to deliver responsible change—so that both people and planet can thrive.

What does reservoir fluid geodynamics mean for oil and gas?

Initiated and led by SLB Fellow Dr. Oliver C. Mullins, the oil and gas industry has introduced a new technical discipline called reservoir fluid geodynamics (RFG) to enhance the understanding and management of reservoir fluids over geologic time. RFG offers a comprehensive approach similar to "structural geology" for rocks, focusing on how fluids and rock structures evolve together. This new discipline helps operators address uncertainties in reserve estimates, productivity, and reservoir connectivity, and the Ora platform is a key enabler. Learn from Dr. Oliver Mullins how RFG is becoming an essential tool in reservoir management and development.
