Applications

  • Conventional, unconventional, offshore, and onshore drilling
  • Vertical, curve, and lateral sections
  • Any BHA configuration
  • Ideal for medium-to-hard strength formations with unconfined compressive strengths (UCS) ranging from 15,000 to 20,000 psi

Benefits

  • Increased cutting efficiency
  • Enhanced impact resistance
  • Reduced drilling time and costs due to greater bit durability and higher ROP

Features

Cutters have

  • serrated edges for enhanced cutting efficiency
  • thick diamond table for better thermal stability
  • multiple ridges at the cutting tip to provide better toughness against impact
  • concave surface to increase aggressiveness.

How it improves performance

A revolutionary development in PDC technology, the SerraBlade™ serrated diamond element bit enables higher ROP and improved drilling efficiency in medium-to-hard strength formations. The serrated cutting elements are engineered to optimize drilling performance and bit life. The cutting elements are integrated into the drill bits, enabling them to achieve higher ROPs and drill longer distances, hence reducing overall drilling time and costs.

How it works

Its uniquely engineered serrated cutting profile initiates continuous rock crushing and shearing action, significantly enhancing cutting efficiency. This advanced geometry, combined with the multiridge cutting tip and concave surface of the cutters, reduces the attack angle and the force required to penetrate medium-to-hard rock by up to 12% compared with conventional flat-surface PDC cutters. The thick diamond table improves thermal stability in high-temperature rock-cutting conditions, while the cutter’s robust structure increases toughness against impact by 22%.
